Gracie Elizabeth Mata

Gracie Elizabeth Mata passed away unexpectedly Saturday Sept. 7, 2019, at the age of 54.   A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday Sept. 15, 2019, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. with Rev. Kristin Jack officiating.  A reception will follow at Central Christian Church, 4901 Lake Shore Drive.

Gracie was born May 21, 1965, in Waco, Texas, the daughter of  George Joseph Mata, Sr.  and Victoria (Maciel) Mata.  She attended Woodrow Wilson School in Dallas.  For the last six years, she was employed by McLennan Community College as an Instructional Aide, a job she dearly loved.  Gracie enjoyed being with her family and especially her grandchildren.  She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, watching and collecting movies.

Also preceding her in death was a brother, Robert Garcia.

Survivors include her father, George Joseph Mata, Sr.; her mother, Victoria (Maciel) Mata; two sons, Andres Mata and wife Claudia, Christopher Mata; three daughters, Elizabeth Marines and husband Julio, Carmen Mickley and husband Ron, Crystal Mata; three brothers, Juan Garcia, George Mata, Jr., David Mata and wife Connie; four sisters, Veronica Sanchez, Irene Salazar and husband Julio, Stella Estrada, Anna Garcia; and ten grandchildren.
