Mary Louise Cardwell, 92, of Woodway, went to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday, September 10, 2023.
A Graveside Service will be 11 am, Thursday, September 14th at Waco Memorial Park. A Visitation with the family will be 5-7 pm, Wednesday, September 13th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Mary Louise Cardwell was born in Waco, Texas to Thomas Jacob "Jake" Lindsey and Sallie Inez Monroe on April 21, 1931.
She married CL Cardwell on April 20, 1952. They enjoyed many years of camping across Texas and Colorado with family and friends. Mary loved all things outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Her love of fishing resulted in numerous fish fries at Lake Waco. She also loved square dancing and line dancing.
She enjoyed listening to classic country music, watching baseball and playing dominoes. She also took tremendous pride in her gardening, evident by her yard and patio being full of beautiful plants and flowers. She was a longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church. "Gran," as she was called by many, loved her family with her whole heart and never missed a chance to brag on them.
Mary Louise retired from Midway ISD in 1986 after 22 years of loyal service. During her time there, she worked in the high school principal's office, administration office for the superintendent, and later, the business office.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband; son, Robert "Bobby" Cardwell; parents and siblings, Jake Jr., Clyde Olin and Charlsie Faye.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Clyde Cardwell, Sherri Weghorst (Greg) and James Cardwell; grandchildren, Ashley Carter (Bryan), Greg Weghorst, Jr. (Casey), Jake Weghorst (Holly) and Jordan Stroud (Devin); great grandchildren; Shelby and Bailey Carter, Tatum and Hank Weghorst, Ava and Calvin Weghorst and Simon Stroud.
A special thank you goes to those who took such great care of her; Carolyn, Helen, Debra and Jovita; Susan and Connie of Baylor Scott and White Hospice; and Elaine and DJ of Loving Life Respite and Retreat.
