Albert Lee Brumfield, lovingly known as Al, peacefully passed away on January 21, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. A memorial visitation in his memory will be on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00pm at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with military honors at 4:00pm. An inurnment will follow at McGregor Cemetery.

Born on November 25, 1949 to Harold Joe and Leontine Madeleine in McGregor, Texas, Al lived a life filled with purpose, dedication, a kind heart and a helping hand that touched the lives of all who knew him.

Al graduated from McGregor High School in 1968. He furthered his academic pursuits at Texas State Technical Institute. There he earned an associate degree in civil engineering, which laid the foundation for his career ahead.

Throughout his working life, Al showcased his knowledge as a civil engineer. He joined DuPont before moving on to Hercules. There he continued to make significant contributions through his expertise. Later in his career, Al found fulfillment as an employee at M&M Mars.

Al's time in the United States Army played a vital role in shaping his personality. Bravely serving as a supply specialist, he served his country during the Vietnam War, a fact he was proud of. Al was honored with two overseas service bars, the national defense service award, Army Commendation Medal, OakLeaf to ARCOM, Expert M-14 and M-16 badges, a good conduct medal, and the Vietnam Service medal.

Beyond his professional accomplishments and military achievements, Al possessed a charismatic personality that drew people toward him. Outgoing, friendly, and witty by nature, he was adored by friends and family alike.

Those who knew Al well would describe him as a thoughtful individual with an incredibly giving spirit. He constantly went out of his way to lend a helping hand to those in need. His skillful hands made him quite the handyman, always ready to fix anything requiring his expert touch. Al's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for working in the yard.

During moments of relaxation, Al found solace in sipping coffee on his porch with his faithful companion, Patch, by his side, as well as watching and feeding the birds that stopped in his yard. These simple pleasures brought him tremendous joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Blake and Harold Stanley.

Al leaves behind his daughters, Kristen Welch-Porter and Kelly Welch and family, stepdaughter, Terri Shepherd Castro and her husband Frank, stepson Tony Shepherd and wife Kelly, his cherished grandchildren, Logan, Kennedy, and Kreece, and beloved dog, Patch.
