Alexander Hering

May 14, 1981 — February 22, 2022

Waco, Texas

Alexander William Hering was born in 1981 in the Great American West.  He moved with his family from Wyoming to New Mexico and then to Louisiana. He loved spending time in the outdoors camping, fishing, and exploring. He graduated from Westminster Christian Academy high school where he played soccer and then vowed to never run again!  He then began studying engineering at Louisiana Tech but moved after one year to pursue gaining residency in Montana.  He met his future wife, Mandy, in Bozeman, Montana in 2001. When he wasn’t working, he and Mandy spent their time fly fishing the local streams.  Alex moved with Mandy back to Texas, and they were married on May 24, 2003. Alex then completed a degree in architecture from Texas A&M University in 2005 and worked for local architecture firms in College Station until 2009 when they moved to Golden, Colorado.

They bought a small 1960’s ranch house in Golden, and Alex remodeled the entire house with some help from his dad, making it a home for his two daughters who were born in 2010 and 2012, respectively.  It was in Colorado that he found his true passion for construction management, and he worked in that field for several years before deciding to put his career on hold to raise his daughters.  After shoveling the snow from his driveway one too many times, he convinced Mandy that Texas is truly the promised land, and they moved in 2016.  He began his own construction consulting business, complete with a Ford F-150.  He developed many strong friends among his church family, neighbors, and clients, and he continued to enjoy spending time with his daughters, his wife, and his family.

In April 2020, Alex was diagnosed with cancer, and he took time away from work for treatment.  While he accepted Christ as his Savior when he was 8 years old and walked faithfully with Him throughout his life, he renewed his walk with the Lord during this time.  His mantra became “God is in control,” and he wanted his life to reflect God’s glory in every aspect, for this is our highest and best calling.  His practical, no-nonsense approach to life along with his humor, love, and care for his family will be greatly missed.

Alex passed from this life to his heavenly home on February 22, 2022.  He is survived by his wife Mandy Hering; their children Greta and Margo Hering; his parents, William and Kathryn Hering; and his sister Hannah (Jeff) Wagner; nieces Ava and Evie Wagner; aunt Inge Bentz; uncles John (Debbie) Hering and Tom (Karla) Hering. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents Hareld and Elma Swann and paternal grandparents Eugene and Christa Hering.

A visitation with the family will be 10:00 am to 10:45 am on Saturday, March 12th, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Woodway with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am.
