Antonio "Tony" Hernandez Jr., 64, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–Hillcrest in Waco, Texas. Born May 25, 1962, in Edinburg, Texas, Tony lived a life centered around the people and things he loved most. From an early age, he enjoyed music, movies, and sports, all of which remained a part of his life throughout the years.

Tony was a lifelong Longhorns fan and enjoyed following his favorite football team. He was also a devoted husband, a proud father, and someone who could always find enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life. He loved listening to his favorite music and was an avid movie watcher, with The Godfather among his favorites. He had an appreciation for literature and enjoyed writing in his free time.

Tony attended high school in Abilene, Texas and spent some time at Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater. On May 12, 2000, he married the love of his life, Marina Dominguez, in Smithville, Texas. Together, they shared more than 26 years of marriage and built a family filled with love and memories. Tony spent his final years working as an insurance salesman but had many careers over the course of his life. His favorite was working as a professional DJ for various events and clubs all over the state of Texas.

While his work was an important part of his life, his family was his greatest source of pride and joy. His wife, Marina, was his best friend. He was the best listener, provider, and husband she could ever ask for. Of all his accomplishments, being a father was the one he treasured most. His children, Nicholas and Alexandra, held a very special place in his heart. He was always just a phone call away for both of them, whether they needed advice, a laugh, or comfort. He loved them dearly.

Those who knew Tony will remember him for the love he had for his family and for the interests and traditions that made him uniquely himself. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the music enjoyed, the games watched, and, most of all, in the hearts of those who loved him.

Tony was preceded in death by his grandfather, Emilio Martinez, and his uncle, Beto Martinez.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marina Hernandez; his children, Nicholas Hernandez and Alexandra Hernandez; his mother, Virginia Aguilar; his brothers, Abraham Aguilar, Juan Hernandez, and Gary Aguilar; his sisters, Paula Davila, Elosia Aguilar, Rachel Lopez, and Diana Aguilar; and his closest niece and nephew, Kaylee Aguilar and Luke Aguilar; along with extended family and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Mary and Dr. Arnold at Ascension Medical Group Providence at Sanger, the staff of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–Hillcrest, and Grace Gardens Funeral Home for the care and kindness shown to Tony and his family.

A private service will be held with close family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tony’s memory through Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Though his time with us was far too short, the love Tony gave his family will remain long after his final goodbye. His greatest legacy will always be the family he loved so dearly.
