Asunción Gonzalez Hernandez was born on August 15, 1961, in Rayón, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Isidro Gonzalez Reyes and Lorenza Hernandez Martinez. He passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Waco, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.
Asunción was a man whose life was centered on love for his family. His greatest happiness came from being with his children, grandchildren, and the generations that followed. Whether it was a lively game of Lotería, sharing stories, or simply sitting together, those moments meant everything to him. He had a quiet way of making people feel welcome, and ordinary days felt special in his presence.
He was a devoted fan of the LA Dodgers and the Dallas Cowboys, always cheering on his teams. He treasured family traditions, especially trips to Jack and Jill Donuts on New Road, where birthdays and milestones were celebrated together. He took pride in his truck and enjoyed working on it, and he looked forward to weekend visits to the flea market.
A hardworking and dependable man, Asunción rarely missed a day of work. He dedicated more than 30 years to Cargill, working in the sanitation department, and took pride in providing for his family through his steady commitment.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Perfecta Gonzalez Hernandez; and his brothers, Aron Gonzalez Hernandez and Narcizo Gonzalez Hernandez.
Asunción is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Casimira Gonzalez; his children, Patricia Garcia Cooper (Stuart), Shawndale Marie Garcia (Chris), Nicole Brown Zepeda (Chris), Gilbert Anthony Gonzalez (Laura), Jaime Zamora Noriega (Marissa), Isabel Zamora Noriega, and Erik Zamora Noriega; his 20 grandchildren—Lorenzo, Ariana, Ashley, Sebastian, Tristian, Michael, Gilbert Jr., Jordan, Ariel, Ielanie, Arianne, Christopher III, Miley, K’Leianna, Mason, Jaritza, Melanie, Ismael, Francisco, and Santiago; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Feliciana Gonzalez (Inocencio Pinones), and his brother, Eriberto Gonzalez Hernandez (Margarita).
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with a rosary at 5:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026,at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery. A repast will follow immediately after the burial until 4pm, at the Knight of Columbus hall at Sacred Heart, 2621 Bagby Ave. Waco, Texas 76711.
Asunción will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished so deeply.

Asunción fue un hombre cuya vida estuvo centrada en el amor por su familia. Su mayor alegría era estar con sus hijos, nietos y las generaciones que siguieron. Ya fuera jugando una animada partida de Lotería, compartiendo historias o simplemente pasando tiempo juntos, esos momentos lo eran todo para él. Tenía una manera tranquila de hacer sentir bienvenidos a los demás, y lograba que los días sencillos se volvieran especiales con su presencia.
Fue un gran aficionado de los LA Dodgers y de los Dallas Cowboys, siempre apoyando a sus equipos. Disfrutaba mucho las tradiciones familiares, especialmente las visitas a Jack and Jill Donuts en New Road, donde celebraban cumpleaños y momentos importantes. Se sentía orgulloso de su camioneta y le gustaba trabajar en ella, además de disfrutar sus visitas de fin de semana al mercado de pulgas.
Hombre trabajador y dedicado, Asunción casi nunca faltaba a su trabajo. Dedicó más de 30 años a Cargill, donde trabajó en el departamento de saneamiento, y se sentía orgulloso de poder proveer para su familia con su esfuerzo constante.

La velación será el Martes 7 de Abril de 2026, de 5:00 a 7:00 p.m., en Grace Gardens Funeral Home, con un rosario a las 5:30 p.m. El servicio funerario será a las 12:00 p.m. el Miércoles 8 de Abril de 2026, en Grace Gardens Funeral Home, seguido del entierro en el Cementerio Oakwood. Se ofrecerá un convivio inmediatamente después del entierro hasta las 4:00 p.m., en el salón de los Caballeros de Colón en Sacred Heart, 2621 Bagby Ave., Waco, Texas 76711.
Asunción será profundamente extrañado y recordado con mucho cariño por todos quienes lo conocieron. Su legado vive en la familia que tanto amó.
