Barbara Whited, affectionately known by her family and friends as Mawmaw, Aunt Bobbie, and Precious Friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, family and service.

Barbara was born on July 28, 1934, in Hermitage, Arkansas. She later made her home in Texas and Oklahoma, where she built a life centered around her family, her faith, and serving others. She married the love of her life, Daniel Whited, in Waco, Texas, and together they shared many years of life and memories.

Barbara was a hardworking and talented woman. She served as a lead seamstress in several sewing factories and later worked at Cosmetic Specialty Labs in Lawton, Oklahoma. She eventually retired from Cache, Oklahoma ISD, where she worked in Food Services. No matter where she worked, Barbara brought her strong work ethic and caring heart.

Her faith was an important part of who she was. She was a longtime member of the Church of God in Cache, Oklahoma, and was also a member of Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas. Her love for others extended beyond the walls of her church. Barbara helped in organizing food and supplies for those in need in the Cache community. She would take on the responsibility of ordering supplies and driving to Oklahoma City to pick them up; serving others was simply part of who she was.

Barbara found great joy in the simple things in life, especially when they involved family. She loved gathering pecans with her great-grandsons and baking pecan pies with them. She enjoyed preparing wonderful meals for her family, sewing and quilting, and most of all, visiting with family and friends. Her kitchen, her stories, and her presence created memories that will be deeply treasured.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel Whited; her precious son, Danny Lee Whited; her mother, Willie Beason Walters; her father, Ed Walters; her sisters, Jessie Chambers and Juanita Hutchinson; her brother, Ed Walters Jr.; brothers-in-law, Lamar Chambers and J.C. Hutchinson; and sister-in-law, Bernice Walters.

She leaves behind a family who adored her, including her daughter-in-law, Susan Whited; grandchildren, Zack Whited, Nikki Hill, Faith Whited of Lubbock, Jeremy Whited of Tennessee, and Chris Whited of Alabama; great-grandsons, Kaiden Brigham, Karter Brigham, and Houston Hill of Lubbock, and Nicholas Whited of Alabama; and her son, Michael Whited of Panama, Central America.

Aunt Bobbie was also blessed with MANY nieces and nephews who loved her as a second mother, and whom she loved as her own children.

Barbara’s family will miss her terribly, but they hold tightly to the promise that they will see her again “In The Morning.” She was a strong and faithful Christian who trusted in God throughout her life. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now in God’s presence, reunited with those she loved who were waiting for her. She is now HOME!

A private family service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many friends Barbara made at Stilwell Retirement Center. They loved and cared for her deeply, and she made many special memories during her time there. The family also expresses their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff and aides at St. Anthony’s Nursing Care and to Bluebonnet Hospice Care for the wonderful care, compassion, and kindness they provided to Barbara. May God’s richest blessings fall upon each of you.

Barbara’s life was a gift, her love was a blessing, and her memory will forever stay in the hearts of those who knew and loved their Mawmaw, Aunt Bobbie, and Precious Friend.
