Barbara Sue Wyatt

Barbara Sue Wyatt, a retired School Secretary known for her kindness and dedication, peacefully passed away on April 25, 2024, in Hewitt, Texas. She was born on September 28, 1936, in Los Fresnos, Texas. Barbara will be remembered not only for her professional contributions but also for the love she shared with her family and friends.

Barbara's career as a School Secretary was marked by her unwavering commitment to helping others and creating a positive impact on those around her. Her passion for education shone through in all that she did.

Education played an essential role in Barbara's life; she was a proud graduate of Los Fresnos High School in 1954 and had the opportunity to further enrich her knowledge at Baylor University. Her thirst for learning was evident in everything she pursued.

Outside of work and education, Barbara found joy in following Baylor Lady Bear Basketball. She would often be found cheering on her favorite team with enthusiasm and spirit. In fact, when the Lady Bears lost, it was never their fault, it had to be the officials. Barbara was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church Woodway.

She is preceded in death by father, Oren J. Pederson; mother, Bernice Pederson; sisters, Jean Chesire, Billie Gunsel, and Peggy Artley.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Buford Joe Wyatt, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Together they shared a beautiful life filled with love and mutual respect. She will be deeply missed by her children: Jay Wyatt and wife Kaye, Brad Wyatt, Shannon Somers and husband Rodney. Barbara's legacy continues through her grandchildren: J.J. Wyatt and wife Heather, Chaney Wyatt-Chittum and husband Chad, Wyatt Somers, as well as her great-grandchildren: Chloe Wyatt-Chittum, Chandler Chittum, Jay Wyatt, and Emerson Wyatt. She is also survived by sisters. Joan Doris, Wanda Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
