Betty Lou Poteet, 85, of Waco, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, in Waco, Texas.

Betty was born in Waco on September 19, 1938, to E.C. and Johnnie Rae Behringer. She attended Waco High School, graduating  1956. After her children started school, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Carter and later retired from TU Electric. In retirement, she worked part-time at The Craft Gallery and Hobby Lobby, where she was able to share her love for sewing and crafts.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Judith Brown, and Barbara Walling. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Sanderson and spouse, Robert, of Anacortes, Washington, Billy Poteet and spouse, Brenda, of Lorena, and Dean Poteet and partner Betty Dalessandro, of Speegleville, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her brother-in-law Nathaniel Brown Sr. of Bedford, Massachusetts, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Emergency Room, Acute Care 4 North and Hospice for their kindness and excellent care given to Betty.

Per her wishes, a public service will not be held. For those desiring to do so, donations may be made to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest or the Family Abuse Center.
