Carol Jean (Swoveland) Zimmerman

Carol Jean (Swoveland) Zimmerman went to be with her Lord November 2, 2022.  A visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. Waco, Texas. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022, College Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Philip Rigel and Rev. Carrol Hambrick officiating.  Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery, under the direction of Grace Gardens Funeral Home.   For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed  on this page.

Carol was born on November 4, 1936, in Mishawaka, Indiana the daughter of the late  William Adrian Swoveland and Charlotte Mary (Lanning) Swoveland.  In 1955, she graduated from San Benito High School and attended Mary Hardin Baylor University. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church, McGregor, Texas until 2016, where she was an active member, Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was retired from Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. Her greatest joy was being with her family and friends,

traveling and attending southern gospel concerts. Her favorite memories were those special times spent with Wayne, driving through the hill country looking for bluebonnets, family gatherings and reunions, fellowship and outings with church friends and YaYa lunches.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 38 years, Doyle Wayne Zimmerman, to whom she was married March 13, 1959; a son, Steven Zimmerman, daughter-in-law Brenda Zimmerman, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Duard and Nona Zimmerman, brothers, George Swoveland, William Swoveland, Merlin Swoveland, sister, Sharon Walker, sisters-in-law, Jean Smith, Doris Woods and Nell Swoveland.

Survivors include her children, Denise (John) DeLoach and Darrell (Raelyn) Zimmerman, grandchildren Brandon DeLoach, Josh (Laura) DeLoach, Holly (Kyle) Wilson, Micah (Krisanne) Zimmerman, Jesse (Abby) Zimmerman, Corey (Anna) Zimmerman, and Cyle (LeAnna) Zimmerman, great-grandchildren, Clay (Chelsie) Herbort, Cole (McKenzie) Herbort, Claire Herbort, Margot DeLoach, Oliver Zimmerman, Eleanor Zimmerman, Madelyn Zimmerman, Payton Zimmerman and Parker Zimmerman, great-great-grandchildren, Cedar Herbort and Georgie Herbort with two on the way, brother, Duane (Lynda) Swoveland, Sister, Kathie (Jim) Donaldson, sisters-in-law, Dee Swoveland, Georgia Swoveland, and Lois Hayes, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
