Carolyn Biles

Some people leave behind accomplishments. Others leave behind possessions. But the rarest people leave behind something far greater—they leave behind a legacy of faith, love, and lives forever changed.

Carolyn Taylor Biles, lovingly known to so many as "Boopsie," was one of those rare people.

Born on July 6, 1944, in Dallas, Carolyn built a life centered on what mattered most: loving Jesus, loving her family, and loving people well. Whether in Grand Prairie, East Texas, or Waco, she had a remarkable way of making every place feel more like home because she was there.

Carolyn often laughed about being a "ringtail-tooter" in her younger years. But when Christ captured her heart in her early twenties, everything changed. From that day forward, her life became a beautiful testimony of God's grace. For more than fifty years, she faithfully opened God's Word, teaching generations of women through Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and small groups. She didn't simply teach lessons—she lived them.

She was the steady hand behind the scenes, the faithful church clerk, the dependable servant, and the "heavenly sandpaper" who lovingly helped shape pastors, leaders, and friends with wisdom, honesty, and grace. She served beside Jon Ker at his law office for twenty-eight years, retiring a short six weeks ago. She believed that serving Christ wasn't reserved for Sunday mornings—it was woven into everyday life.

But beyond everything she accomplished, Carolyn will be remembered for who she was.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a treasured sister, a loyal friend, and someone who made others feel seen, loved, and welcomed. Her laughter was genuine, her prayers were powerful, and her faith was unwavering. She celebrated life's adventures, loved traveling and the mountains, and even embraced the thrill of skydiving for her 73rd birthday—a reminder that joy and courage never left her spirit.

Those who knew Carolyn know that heaven gained a faithful servant. She lived with eternity in view, and now she hears the words she longed for all her life:

"Well done, good and faithful servant."

Though our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice knowing that the faith she lived by has now become her sight. Her legacy lives on in her children, Angela Kegley and husband Carl, Doug Biles, grandchildren, Cacie Byrd and husband Josh, Zeth Biles and partner Christopher Wallace, Ashley Gilliam and husband Joe with their daughter Gracie Jo, numerous nieces and nephews, countless “best friends”, and in every life she pointed toward Jesus.

She looked forward to hugging her granddaughter Cristi Kegley, before anyone else, and to being reunited with her mother, Era Mae Taylor, her father, Jackson Harry Taylor, sisters, Joann Rogers, Billye Dillon, and Helen Matties Burns, and brother, Harry Taylor.

Thank you, Carolyn, for showing us what a life fully surrendered to Christ looks like. We will miss your wisdom, your smile, your encouragement, and your steadfast love. Until we meet again, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a race faithfully finished.

A time of visitation with the family will be 10am, Wednesday, July 22nd at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.  A Celebration of her life will follow at 11am, and culminate with an Inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery.
