Charlie B. Harrell age 88, of Woodway passed away on Friday August 24, 2012 at a local hospital. Graveside Services will be at 10:30AM Monday August 27, 2012 at Bosqueville Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 5PM on Sunday August 26, 2012 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home 8220 Woodway Dr. Waco, TX 76712.
Charlie was born on December 22, 1923 in Bosqueville, Texas to David and Mary Harrell. He attended Bosqueville Schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1942. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 18, serving during WWII receiving 3 Bronze Stars and 1 Purple Heart. After his Honorable Discharge, he attended Baylor University. Charlie owned and operated the Mobil Service Station in Waco on the Circle for 17 years, later working for Bird Kultgen Ford for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He married the love of his life Johanna Scardino on June 3, 1955. Charlie was a member of the Masonic Lodge as well as a Shriner. Charlie was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers.
Charlie is survived by his wife Johanna of 57 years; two sisters in-law Alyeda Harrell of Bosqueville and Ann Connorty of Temple, Texas; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Rex.
The family would like to thank the nursing and medical staff of Hillcrest Scott and White Hospital as well as Sharla Hughes and the entire staff of Hillcrest Scott and White Hospice.
