Cheryl Yoakum, 58, of Waco, Texas, passed away on August 4, 2026.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Cheryl was born on August 22, 1967, in Waco, Texas, to Michael Roy Yoakum and Ann Pugh Yoakum.
She attended Robinson High School, where she was a member of the flag corps, before moving and completing her senior year at Lorena High School, from which she graduated. During her younger years, Cheryl enjoyed riding horses and barrel racing She later attended Texas State Technical Institute where she earned her certification in dental hygiene Cheryl dedicated more than 20 years of her career as a dental hygienist, serving patients through severa local dental practices. She found great satisfaction in caring for others.
A Christian by faith, Cheryl found joy in life's simple pleasures. After becoming disabled, she cherished spending time with her beloved dog. Zoe, whom she delighted in dressing in festive outfits, especially during the holidays. Cheryl also loved decorating her home for every holiday, with Christmas holding a particularly special place in her heart. She had a deep love for animals, especially stray cats, and never hesitated to care for those in need.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Michael Ray Yoakum and Ann Pugh Yoakum, and her granddaughter Josie Ann Huggins.
She is survived by her son, Ryan Huggins and his partner, Ashley Heller, her grandson, Jase Huggins; her sister, Misty Diserens and her husband, Richard: her brothers, Mike Yoakum and his wife, Nancy, and Joshua Yoakum; her special friend, Bobby; and many extended family members and cherished friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hewitt Health & Rehabilitation Center especially Marcella, Kelly. Diane, and Melinda for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Cheryl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue in Cheryl's memory. honoring her lifelong love and compassion for animals.
