Cindy (Smith) Oden

Cindy (Smith) Oden, 68, of Hewitt, passed away on October 11, 2023 surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 17 th from 5-7 pm at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 5-6 with a time of remembrance to begin at 6.

Cindy was born April 28, 1955 in Waco, Texas to James “Hico” Smith and Martha Jordan. She graduated from University High School where she spent countless hours cheerleading with her friends.

On June 27, 1981, Cindy married the love of her life, Randy Oden. During their 42 year marriage, they raised two wonderful children, Josh and Lindsey. Their marriage was full of many laughs and amazing memories made on the Beaches of Mexico and with their family and friends.

Cindy had a spunky wit and sass about her that would infect every room that she walked into. In her spare time, Cindy enjoyed watching sports and spending every free moment with her grandchildren. Her true love was yelling at the umpires when she didn’t agree with their calls.

She was preceded in death by her parents James “Hico” Smith and Martha Jordan Williamson. She is survived by her husband, Randy, son, Josh and wife, Mandy, daughter Lindsey and husband, Travis; her brother Jim and wife Judy; and the lights of her life, grandchildren Easton, Emery and Clint; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

She was a proud wife, a loving wife, an adoring grandmother and a loyal friend who will be immensely missed. To showcase Cindy’s bright and vibrant personality and style, the family encourages those in attendance to dress in bright colors for the service.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Baylor Scott and White Medical staff and ICU nurses for their devotion to her and our family over the last few weeks and to the McClinton Cancer Center for their care over the last few months.

It was Cindy’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Fuzzy Friends Rescue, the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
