Listen to Obituary

Clyde Blake (C.B.) Boggess, of Waco, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, September 14, 2025. C.B. was born October 2, 1932, in Ballinger, Texas to Milton & Sarilda Boggess. He was the middle child of three boys, each about 18 months apart, which made them not only brothers but also great friends. C.B. was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ballinger where he came to know the Lord as a boy. As an adult C.B. joined Woods Chapel Baptist Church and upon being baptized in to the church had the pastor explain that he (C.B.) had been a Christian for a long time and that the pastor was baptizing him a Baptist. Later, C.B. and Marie would join and be life, long members of Tate Springs Baptist Church.

C.B. was the youngest member of his Boy Scout troop to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Ballinger High School in 1950 and enlisted in the Armed Forces, fought in the Korean War and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. C.B. returned to Ballinger where he met his soul mate, Marie Reynolds. C.B. and Marie married at the First Baptist Church of Goldthwaite July 26, 1958. They moved to Thibodaux, Louisiana for C.B.’s job, where they welcomed their daughter, Alice’. The young family moved to Arlington, Texas and with the encouragement of brother-in-law Burrell Reynolds, C.B. went to work for Bell Helicopter. In 1960, they were blessed with son, James. C.B. started work in the paint shop and worked his way up into management. He retired after thirty eight years.

Labor Day weekends were always spent with family and friends at the dove patch, a tradition that started with C.B.’s father and brothers, Bill and Eldon. This gathering grew as the families grew and continued for years. The weekend after Thanksgiving would find C.B. and family at the deer lease sharing a garage full of cots with brother-in-law Jimmy Farrington and family. Many special memories were made during these family times. C.B.’s love of hunting continued after his retirement and he was honored to be included in several corporate quail hunts with nephew Sam Boggess, in which he made many life, long friends.

C.B. developed a love of horses and encouraged Alice’ and Jimmy as they competed in Play Days across Texas. A few years later his love of horses grew to include raising and running American Quarter horses. He shared his love of racing with his beloved wife, Marie (who loved any type of competition), children and the older grandchildren. Days at the racetrack were for family.

C.B. considered his grandchildren some of his biggest blessings. He enjoyed watching them participating in their activities. More than anything he worked at having a unique relationship with each one of them and made them feel extra special.

C.B. and Marie moved to Waco in 2017 with son Jimmy, to be closer to daughter Alice’ so that they could have the help needed to navigate the next few years. While not physically able to attend church, C.B. was faithful to watch the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church broadcast on Sunday mornings.

C.B. leaves behind daughter Alice’ Koeritz and husband Ken of Waco; son James Boggess of Waco; grandchildren Blake Koeritz and wife Jessica of Waco, Nicole Cook and husband Shane of Arlington, Courtney Miller and husband Zack of Waco, Caitlin McMullen and husband Mark of Dallas and Kameryn Martin and husband Logan of Boerne; great grandchildren Carson Miller, Colton Koeritz, Stella Cait Miller, Colby Koeritz, Konnor Cook, Fletcher, Mavis and Murphy McMullen. Further he leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.

C.B. is preceded in death by his wife Marie, just six months ago, his parents, great grandson Keegan Uranga; and brothers Bill Boggess and Eldon Boggess.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to his caregivers at Residency at Ridgewood who loved and cared for him, as well as, a big thank you to Lance Painter for going above and beyond for C.B., always checking on and taking the time to visit and sometimes share a Dos Equis with him. We would like to thank Doctor Nick Schwedock and his team at Vesper and Gentiva Hospice and a very special thank you to Debbie Walton, his physical therapist of many years, who has become a part of our family.

C.B. was so well loved because he loved well and he will be missed beyond words. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
