In Loving Memory of Courtnee Strickland
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Courtnee Strickland on June 2, 2026, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco, Texas.
Courtnee was born on January 6, 1994, to Michael Strickland and Shanna Diane Moses. From the very beginning, she brought joy, laughter, and a spark of adventure to the lives of those around her. She grew up loving the outdoors and treasured the time she spent hunting and fishing with her dad and brother. Those days created memories and bonds that she carried with her throughout her life.
As a young woman, Courtnee was a talented track athlete in high school. She approached life the same way she approached the track—with determination, strength, and a spirit that refused to quit. Those who knew her knew she was resilient, independent, and fiercely loyal to the people she loved.
But more than anything, Courtnee was a mother.
Her son, Nolan, was her whole world. He was the reason behind her smile, her strength, and her greatest sense of purpose. She loved him with every part of her heart, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for him. Being Nolan’s mom was the role she cherished most in life, and the love they shared will forever be her greatest legacy.
Courtnee was a loving daughter, a devoted sister, and a proud aunt. She loved deeply and cared fiercely for her family. Whether through laughter, advice, or simply being present, she had a way of making the people she loved feel important. She was the kind of person whose absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled.
Courtnee found comfort and faith through her home church, Bruceville Community Church in Bruceville, Texas. Her faith carried her through many seasons of life and remains a source of comfort for those who mourn her loss.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shanna Diane Moses, whom she missed dearly.
Left to cherish her memory are her precious son, Nolan of Eddy; her father and stepmother, Michael and Nickie Strickland of Moody; her grandparents, Lloyd and JoNell Strickland of Eddy; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Morgan Strickland of Bruceville; her stepbrother, Lance Flanary of Lott; her beloved nephews, Waylon and Bowen Strickland of Bruceville; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her deeply.
Courtnee shared a special bond with her grandparents, especially her Granny, JoNell. Throughout her life, Granny lovingly cared for Courtnee, offering unwavering support, comfort, and unconditional love. In her most difficult moments, Granny never left her side. Their bond was one built on devotion, faith, and a love that words can scarcely describe. The care and compassion Granny showed Courtnee throughout her life will forever be remembered and cherished by our family.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers of Interim Healthcare Hospice for the compassion, dignity, and kindness they showed Courtnee and our family during such a difficult time.
A memorial service will be held at 4 PM on July 11, 2026 at Bruceville Community Church.
Though our hearts ache with the loss of Courtnee, we find comfort in knowing that love never dies. We will carry her laughter in our memories, her strength in our hearts, and her love in the stories we share. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed every day.
Until we meet again, Courtnee, may you rest peacefully in the arms of your mother and in the presence of the Lord. Your love lives on through Nolan and through all of us who were blessed to know you.
