Curtis was a lifelong lover of the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. Nature was his playground, and ducks held a special place in his heart. He had a deep appreciation for animals and a natural connection to the wild. Music brought him joy, and he loved to sing — his voice was as open and heartfelt as the man himself. His Jeep was more than a vehicle; it was a symbol of freedom and adventure, both of which he embraced with courage and curiosity.
He was a man of remarkable strength, quiet courage, and deep kindness. Always putting others before himself, he had a heart as big as the world he loved to explore. Friendly, open-hearted, and intuitively brilliant, he was never afraid to venture into the unknown — whether it was a remote corner of Alaska or a new chapter in life. He lived with purpose, passion, and an adventurous spirit that inspired everyone who knew him.
He was immensely proud of his 40-year membership with the Operating Engineers Trusts, Local 302 — a testament to his dedication, work ethic, and love for building. He found joy in working with his hands, moving dirt, shaping the earth, and watching projects come to life.
Incredibly determined, he completed both his GED and associate degree at the same time — a milestone that spoke volumes about his perseverance. His faith journey led him through ministry school, where he became a commissioned pastor, continuing his lifelong calling to uplift and support others.
His work took him on multiple journeys to Alaska, where he thrived in the challenge of new terrain and hard labor. Whether in the wilds of the north or in the lives of those around him, he loved helping build — not just structures, but people. He built friendships, trust, and community wherever he went
Services will be held at The Olive Branch Christian Fellowship Church located at 1101 Columbus Ave. Waco, Tx, Saturday Oct. 18th at 2 p.m.
