Dale Russell Kidd, a dedicated educator and beloved figure in his community, passed away on June 8, 2025, in Gatesville, Texas. Born on January 3, 1945, in Springfield, Illinois, Dale lived a life marked by service, passion, and commitment to excellence.

Dale's career as a teacher spanned 18 years, during which he taught JROTC at several high schools across Texas, most notably at Lorena and Midway. His devotion to fostering leadership and discipline among the youth was palpable, and he also found fulfillment working with the Young Marines. Dale was an ardent supporter of those he taught, with many students recalling fond memories of traveling with him and the excitement of experiencing Amarillo in the snow. His love for the military, instilled during his time of service, was a defining aspect of his character, and he took pride in sharing this enthusiasm with the younger generations.

A Vietnam veteran, Dale served in the Marines following his graduation from Lanphier High School in Springfield, Illinois. Over his 22 years of military service, he honed his skills and developed a deep sense of camaraderie that extended into his civilian career.

In his personal life, Dale was known for his vibrant personality and zest for the outdoors. He enjoyed running and biking, activities that not only kept him active but also enriched his connection with nature. Dale's love for adventure and the great outdoors was a part of who he was, reflecting the energy and enthusiasm he brought to all aspects of his life. He has served the Mooreville Methodist Church for 23 years, assisting in the youth ministry.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Norma Kidd. He cherished his family, which includes his children, Thomas Reeves, Caroline Plummer and husband Mike, Suzanna Kidd, Valerie Lodge, and Kathy Allen and husband Brian. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Taylor Mulford and husband Jaime, and Haylie Dryden. Dale is also survived by his siblings, Gerald Kidd and wife Brenda, and Karen Smith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Kidd.

A visitation to honor Dale's memory will be held on June 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Crematorium in Woodway, Texas. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM. Dale will then be laid to rest at Waco Memorial Park in Robinson, Texas, with the burial service starting at 2:45 PM.

Dale Russell Kidd leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication that will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will continue to inspire, and though he has departed from this world, the impact of his life endures in the hearts of family, friends, and students.
