David Arnold Clark

April 18, 1930 — April 4, 2023

Mart, Texas

David Arnold Clark, 92, was called home on April 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in his home.  In honor of his wishes, there will be a memorial service at a much later date when he and his beloved bride can be interred together in Iowa.

David was born April 18, 1930, to Ezra and Louise (Durkop) Clark in Bernard, Iowa. In his childhood years, David helped on his parents’ farm.  He was one of 18 children. He enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas in the Korean War from 1948-1951, when he was honorably discharged.  Dave married the love of his life, Loretta Mae Current on October 4, 1952.  Together they have five living children, David Douglas (Laurel) of Stockton, Iowa, Michael Lee of Mart, Texas, Gregory Mark of Kahoka, Missouri, Juanita Ann Larkins (Clarence) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Virginia Mae Burrow (Steve) of Hewitt, Texas. Four of these five children carried on his legacy and served in the United States Armed Forces.

David was employed at Oscar Meyer for 14 years in Davenport, Iowa and then at Quality Foundry for 33 years before his retirement in 1995.  After years of living in Stockton, Iowa, David and Loretta moved to Mart, Texas in 1995.

As the patriarch of his family, David enjoyed life alongside his loving wife for 70 years.  Family, honor, duty, and respect were the standards by which he lived his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; majority of his siblings; son, Matthew Arnold; and grandson, John Arnold.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife; adored children; cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Glen (Mickey); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
