Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Daylon Wayne Ochoa, age 62, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in his hometown of Waco, Texas, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 22, 1963, Daylon grew up in Central Texas and served a period in the U.S. National Guard before receiving an honorable discharge. While he spent years working in construction, work was never his true calling. Daylon was a man who lived entirely on his own terms, for better or for worse, and he refused to let a job define him.

Instead, Daylon defined his life by his freedom and the things that brought him genuine joy. He was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, or losing himself in the world of video games. More than anything, he preferred to spend his days in the company of his family, sharing a laugh and living life at his own pace.

He is survived by his children, Michael Wayne Ochoa, Deveraux Lee Ochoa, Brittany Nicole Ochoa, Brandon Scott Ochoa, and Megan Ariana Ochoa; his father, Mike Ochoa, brothers, Craig, Michael, and Justin, as well as many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ascension Providence, Ridgecrest Retirement Home, and Bluebonnet Hospice for the care and support provided during this time.

Services are being handled by Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Visitation will be 10am, Monday, July 27, 2026 at Grace Gardens. Service will be 11am, Monday, July 27th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Wayne Ochoa, Deveraux Lee Ochoa, Brandon Scott Ochoa, Anthony Casares, Lance Ochoa, and Justin Ochoa. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made directly to Grace Gardens Funeral Home to help assist with the funeral expenses.
