Delmer Neuman

Delmer Neuman passed away March 12, 2024. A memorial visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm, Friday, March 16, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor, Texas. A memorial service in his honor will be at 2pm, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church.

Born in Coryell City, Delmer was the son of Robert and Clara Buth Neuman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Coryell City. He attended elementary school in Coryell City and graduated from Gatesville High in 1949. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict from 1950 until 1954. Immediately after his service, he was employed by Phillips Petroleum/Hercules in McGregor for 30 years. He then worked for Baylor University Maintenance Department for 10 years.

On December 20, 1957, he married Mary Ellen Beard. Soon after their marriage, they joined Zion Lutheran Church of McGregor. During their 66 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and parts of Europe.

Throughout his life he enjoyed many hobbies, but woodworking was his favorite. He was exceptionally talented as a carpenter, locksmith, plumber and electrician. Delmer was the Facilities Chairman during Zion’s devastating fire of 1996, where he oversaw the reconstruction project.

Delmer was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.  He is survived by a daughter, Annette Wilk and husband Jim from Troy, a son Randy Neuman from Lubbock, 3 grandchildren Jeramy Brandes and wife Theresa, Katy Zamora and husband Manny, Kacy Brown and husband Aaron, 3 great granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider a donation to Zion Lutheran Church at P.O. Box 156, McGregor, TX, 76657 or to any Alzheimer’s research or charity of your choice.
