Donald Wayne Bondeson

Donald Wayne Bondeson, 73, of Lorena, Texas – beloved husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa – entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

Donald (Don) was born August 16, 1950, in Zion, IL, the son of Wilhelm and E. Grayce (Banks) Bondeson.  He graduated from Westfield High School in Westfield, WI. He then married the love of his life, Lynn Kruger, on August 26, 1972 at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Westfield, WI. Together they raised four children – Donny, Lindsay, James and Joe – having lived in Aurora, CO; Gainesville, FL; Woodway, TX; and finally settling in Lorena, TX.

Don graduated with a degree in Mathematics (minor in Physics) from the University of Wisconsin. His professional career was as an Aerospace Engineer. One of the highlights of his career was working on NASA’s Magellan Satellite that was launched in 1989 to map the planet Venus. He was able to witness the launch from the control room at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Don (affectionately known as “Pa”) was a lover of Jesus Christ and spoke often of the joy of one day going home to be with his heavenly Father. In fact, just prior to his passing, he mused that 73 would be a good age to go home since it’s a prime number (math humor). Pa loved his morning routine of reading his Our Daily Bread devotional over a cup of coffee. He loved motorcycles and “tinkering” in the garage on anything with an engine. He loved traveling with his wife, Lynn, to faraway places like Hawaii or back to their roots in Wisconsin. He was a calm, gentle man, overflowing with patience and a genuine love for other’s well-being. He had a soft spot for the afflicted, hurting or overlooked people of society. As a devout Christian, he was fortunate to have made a “pilgrimage” to Israel before his passing.

In lieu of a service, per Pa’s wishes, the family will remember his life at a small private family gathering. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bill, Steve and Rick; son Joe; grandson Hunter; and great granddaughter, Arabella.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Lynn; children Donny (Katie); Lindsay; James; brother Bob (Sheryll) and sister Judy; grandchildren Dylan (Joleen), Aliyah, Lacey, Bryce, Caitlin, Abigail and Lila; great grandchild Delilah; as well as countless other friends.
