Donald Wooten, 62, of West, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2026.
A celebration of Don's life will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a visitation following at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Crematorium, 8220 woodway Drive, Waco, TX 76712.
Don was born on April 7, 1964, in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a young man, he enjoyed baseball, creating artwork, superheroes, singing in church, skateboarding, and competing in discus for track and field. He graduated from Camden County High School in St. Marys, Georgia.On June 9, 1984,
Don married the love of his life, Shaye Jones, in St. Marys, Georgia. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Don dedicated 38 years to the graphic printing industry, serving as a production manager. His final place of employment was Packaging Corporation of America, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and commitment.
A faithful member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Robinson, Texas, Don loved the Lord and cherished time with his family. He especially enjoyed fishing, golf, working out with both of his children, Jeffrey and Chelsea, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy.
Don was preceded in death by his father, John C. Wooten Sr.; his beloved son, Jeffrey Wooten; and his nephew, Adam Wooten.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Shaye Wooten, who will profoundly miss him; his daughter, Chelsea Lynn, and her husband, Colton; his daughter-in-law, Ellen Wooten; his cherished grandchildren, Gabriel Blackwell, Hallie Blackwell, Luke Lynn, and Jake Lynn; his mother, Katherine Andrews; his brothers, John Wooten Jr and wife Marsha, and Mike Wooten and wife Angela; his half-brother, Curtis Wooten and wife Amanda; his half-sister, Stacey Wooten; his sister-in-law, Sonya Mumford and husband Robert; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Don will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for his family, his quiet strength, and if you ever shared a laugh with him, it was likely fueled by perfectly timed movie references. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and genuine care for others. Though he will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved him find comfort in the promise that, through faith in Christ, this farewell is not forever.
