Doris (Murphy) Dollins

Doris Dollins, of Lorena, passed away Saturday night, August 7, 2021, at the age of 95.  Friends and family may pay their respects from 9 A.M to 4 P.M. Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in the Parlor of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. The funeral will be in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Timothy Ho Bang officiating.  Private interment will be in Wao Memorial Park.

Mrs. Dollins was born June 10, 1926, in Satin, Texas, the daughter of the late Emmett Ira and Exer Lee (Swanner) Murphy.  On July 3, 1957, she married Byrd Dollins in Waco, Texas.  After thirty-one years of marriage, he preceded her in death May 27, 1989. Much of her life was spent as a valued employee of Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Waco as an inspector.  After thirty-one years of service, she retired July 1, 1988.  Over the years she and Byrd could be found dancing the night away almost every week.  She also enjoyed playing poker, 42 and Moon Dominos.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hewitt of which she enjoyed worshiping.

Also preceding her in death was a son, Louis Ray Dollins on Sept. 6, 1968; a granddaughter Diana Lynn in Sept. of 1981 and eight brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn Dollins, James Dollins; grandchildren, Shannon Ray Dollins, Farrah Denise Stroud; great grandchildren, Shannon Ray Dollins, Jr., Alex Stroud, Jackson Stroud, Matthew Stroud, Savannah Binger and Shayley Binger.
