Doris Erlanson

Visitation with the family will take place at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 27 from 5 to 7pm. A graveside service and burial will take place at China Spring Cemetery Wednesday, January 28 at 2pm.

Doris was born in Hillsboro, TX to the late Foy L. Smith and Rexa (Herring) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her late husband Willie “Billy” August Erlanson Jr. Her brothers, Bobby Smith, James Smith and her Sister JoAnn Poteet. Son in-law, Keith Waltrip. As well as many other family members and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Waltrip, a son, Lance Erlanson and wife Bonnie.

Grand Children, Shannon Head and Husband Tony, Heather Morgan and Logan Erlanson. Great Grand Children, Dylan Head, Camryn Head and August Morgan. And Great-Great Grand Child David Head. Nephew Layton Smith and wife Bettie. Great Nephews Chris McAdams and Wife Stephanie and Great Nephew Daniel McAdams and wife Karen.

She moved to Waco after high school with a friend to attend Waco Cosmetology College. After graduating, she worked as a hairstylist. She was often featured in the Waco newspaper modeling the latest hair styles and trends in fashion.

She married her husband on Valentine’s Day in 1957. After her two children were born, she became a homemaker. Later she would return to work at My-O-My, a women’s fashion and clothing store. She left the workforce permanently in the early 1980’s so she could spend more time with her grandchildren.

She enjoyed traveling and went to many places in her life as well as occasional summer trips to Six Flags with her children and later her grandchildren. She also had a love of reading and enjoyed a good book. She was also a pretty good cook!

Doris was a wonderful, doting and loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

She had many friends and family who proceeded her in death and she remembered them all fondly.
