Dorothy Lee Yarbrough (Robinson) went to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ, on April 12, 2026 while holding the hand of a loved one and listening to some favorite hymns. She was born on April 21, 1931 in Smithfield, West Virginia and lived a long, full life devoted to her family and her faith.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carvel Dell Yarbrough; her children, James Yarbrough, Cindy Hamilton, and Stephen Yarbrough; and her cherished dog, Ladybug. She is survived by her daughter Susan Yarbrough and her son Michael Yarbrough along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her legacy.
Dorothy was born and raised in a humble home in West Virginia. She graduated from Smithfield High School in 1949. She started her adult life in college and eventually met the love of her life, Carvel Yarbrough, a Navy sailor. They were married on December 7, 1953. She raised five children and later returned to college and earned a B.A. in Psychology from The University of Texas in Dallas in 1978. She dedicated many years to teaching in public schools, shaping the lives of countless children. She eventually took on the role as sole care giver for her ailing husband before his death. She loved Jesus, her family, Elvis, Ladybug, her cats, and anything sweet. She never wasted words or money. She was a true treasure to our family and all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
