Douglas Wade Smith, Jr.

Douglas Wade Smith Jr., known affectionately to many as Wade, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 63.

Born on September 4, 1963, in Temple, Texas, Wade was the son of the late Douglas Wade Smith Sr. and Linda Fay Alison Smith. He grew up surrounded by a large, loving family and carried a deep devotion to those he held dear throughout his life.

Wade was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his beloved sister, Annette; his brother-in-law, Cliff Swift; and his great-aunt Marguerite Vail and her husband, Conklin.

He is survived by the absolute love of his life, his daughter, Savannah Sue Smith. He also leaves behind his sister, Donna Swift; his stepmother, Peggy Ruhl Smith; his sister, Julie Smith; his brothers, Charles Robert Smith (and wife Christie) and Jeffrey Scott Smith (and wife Trish); as well as a large, vibrant family of many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Wade is additionally survived by his daughter's mother, Shannon Kelley, and her husband, Dennis Kelley.

Wade’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Herman Memorial Hospital - Southwest and Aspen Hospice and Palliative Care for the exceptional comfort, dignity, and compassion they provided to him in his final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Home at 8220 Woodway Drive, in Waco, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the life of a beloved father, brother, son, and friend.
