In Loving Memory of Elaine Joan Cappuccio Slaughter-Maughan

Elaine Joan Cappuccio Slaughter-Maughan, 79, of Lorena, Texas, passed away November 1, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply.

Born in Torrance, California, to Joseph Cappuccio and Eileen DeGelia Cappuccio, Elaine lived a life defined by family, faith, and a heart for helping others.

She shared 35 years of marriage with Tom Slaughter, raising three daughters, Teri Jennings, Tonya Hoffman, and Tricia Richardson, and building a family business, Lorena Trophy Company. She later married Jimmy Maughan, with whom she shared 22 years and a blended family that included his two daughters Kelly Spears-Bottoms, Doreen Mullins, and their families.

Her greatest joy was her daughters and their spouses; six grandsons who lovingly knew her as Nonna; and three great-grandchildren who carry her legacy forward.

Elaine also found a special calling in serving others. Through her work with former State Representative Doc Anderson, alongside her best friend and colleague, Joleen Hofbauer, she devoted herself to helping the people of McLennan County. It was more than a job; it gave her a sense of purpose and brought her tremendous happiness. She cared about people, believed in helping wherever she could, and took great pride in making a difference. The friendship she shared with Joleen made this chapter of her life even more special.

A faithful member of First Baptist Church - Lorena, Elaine leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion that will live on through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Her greatest legacy is not simply what she accomplished, but the lives she touched and the love she leaves behind.
