Erick "Skooter" Hartwig, born on March 27, 1990, in McKinney, Texas, left this world unexpectedly on February 2, 2026, in Waco, Texas. He was a beloved son, a treasured brother, and an affectionate friend whose loving spirit embraced all who had the privilege to know him.
Skooter enjoyed landscaping and construction, working in the communities of Dallas and Waco. Known for his charismatic personality and sweet demeanor, he moved through life with a heart full of love and a profound faith in Jesus. Those fortunate enough to cross paths with him will remember his unwavering positivity and the way he would freely express his affection, often telling everyone he met just how much he loved them.
His whistling drew attention wherever he went, becoming a familiar and memorable part of everyday life for those around him, most often ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.
A graduate of Midway High School in 2009, Skooter attended classes at TSTC. He was deeply inspired by the beauty of nature, often enjoying his free time fishing, reading his Bible, writing, and listening to Christian music. His commitment to personal strength and wellness extended to his regular workouts, something that fueled his zest for life.
Skooter cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his loving mother, Erika Guy; his father, Wayne Hartwig; a proud father to his son, Erick, Jr.; his brothers, Weslee Hartwig, Brantley Hall, and his fiancée Trinity. His grandparents, Phillip and Brenda Guy, along with a close-knit family of aunts and uncles—including Richard Guy and wife Tiffany, Jessika Birkes and husband David, Carl Hartwig Jr, and Lynne Trotter and husband Russell—will carry his memory in their hearts forever. Joining them are numerous cousins, including Kaylee Guy, Cooper Guy, Skye Birkes, Seeley Birkes, Axel Birkes, Jennifer Sampson, Bubba Askew, Sarah Askew-Carter , Justin Askew, and many extended family members who loved him dearly.
Preceded in death by grandparents, Carl and Bobbie Hartwig, and his cousin, John Hartwig, who welcomed him with open arms at the gates of Heaven.
