Finis Berry

February 25, 1932 — May 31, 2009

On the morning of May 31, 2009, the Lord called his faithful servant, Finis A. Berry, away from a bed of extreme pain to his heavenly home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday , June 4th at Grace Gardens, 8220 Woodway Drive, with the Rev. Kenneth James officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas.

Finis was born February 25, 1932, to Finis and Effie Berry in McLennan County, Texas. He married the love of his life, Bobbie Jean Sanders, on March 17, 1951, and they had four children. He was a member of Timber Crest Baptist Church since 1955 and has served faithfully as their church treasurer for about 45 years until his death. He worked for General Tire and Rubber Company for 20 years and then worked for Marathon Power Technologies until his retirement in 1994.

Then the fun began as they traveled all over the United States in their conversion van with friends and also taking all of their grandchildren on the trips of their choice with a friend of their choice. This was a special time in Finis and Bobbie’s life, and became a special bonding with each of their grandchildren. Within this special time, they traveled to every state in the union except Alaska. They even traveled to Hawaii on a cruise, and then as a finale, they took all of their children and grandchildren on a Christmas 2000 Carribean Cruise. Family was always #1 to Finis and Bobbie.

Finis was preceded in death by his parents, brother and four sisters.,.....Lorene O’Dell of Ft. Worth, TX., Olive Armstrong of Emhouse, TX, Eleanor Bentley of Modesto, CA, Emily Sue Witt of Kaufman, TX, and Freeman Harolson of Hurst, TX, and one infant grandson, Brian David Berry of Plano, TX.
