Frank Anthony Porreco, 72, of China Spring, Texas, passed away on the morning of December 9, 2025, at Providence Hospice. Frank was born on December 29, 1952, in Akron, Ohio, to parents Peter Angelo Porreco and Sherry Joyce Porreco. He was a devoted husband to Deborah Porreco and a loving father to Melissa and Frank.

Frank was a hard-working and dedicated family man. He spent years doing whatever he could for his family. In his younger years, he worked in the tire industry for Goodyear and General Tire, which brought him and his family from Akron, Ohio, to the Waco area. Most of his career, though, was spent working as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic for Elsinore, Chrysler, Raytheon, and finally at L3, from which he retired in 2017. By his colleagues, he was known for the quality of his craft and his incredible work ethic. Despite long working hours, he always made time for his family and his pets.

Once people got to know him, they were often surprised by how kind and generous he was. He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him well.

Frank had several hobbies and interests throughout his life. In his younger years, he was a Golden Gloves boxer and continued to exercise regularly until his last couple of months. For several years after he first moved to Texas, he enjoyed slalom water skiing. He loved nature and would often go hiking, fishing, and camping. On tropical vacations, he looked forward to snorkeling and learned how to scuba dive in his late 60s. He had a deep love for animals, wild and domestic. This was often seen in his excitement when viewing or interacting with wild animals, and he was known for the love and care he gave all of his pets over the years. He also enjoyed working with his hands, whether that meant meticulously restoring his 1967 GTO, doing various projects around the house, or pursuing a hobby he started later in life—working with stained glass.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Angelo Porreco and Sherry Joyce Porreco; his younger brother, Peter Angelo Porreco; and several family pets, including Lady, Sam, Sugar, Tuffy, Prince, Sparky, Rex, and Dino.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his children, Melissa and Frank; his son-in-law, Shannon; his grandson, Aidan; his siblings, Vicki, Theresa, and Joe; his “girl,” Sophie; as well as many friends, neighbors, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

A funeral service will be held on December 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home (8220 Woodway Drive, Waco, Texas 76712).

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Frank's memory by spending meaningful time with and showing kindness to your loved ones.
