Gayle Berotte, 71, of Waco, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, February 2, 2026. She was born on July 16, 1954, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Jay D. Somerville and Mattie Lee Somerville, who both preceded her in death.

At an early age, Gayle accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and faithfully walked in her Christian journey throughout her life. Her days were guided by her unwavering faith, and she found joy in praising God and serving others.

Gayle devoted more than 50 years to the healthcare field, compassionately caring for and supporting people from all walks of life. She officially retired in 2021 from Texas Oncology. Never one to remain idle, she later worked part-time at Chico’s, combining her love of fashion and people in a place that brought her joy.

On November 29, 1980, Gayle married Anthony “Tony” Berotte in Los Angeles, California. Their 45-year union was blessed with two wonderful sons, whom she cherished deeply.

Gayle had a vibrant spirit and a servant’s heart. She loved her church and faithfully sang in the choir at Toliver Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She had a remarkable gift for design, transforming houses into warm and welcoming homes, and she carried that same elegance into her personal style. She found great happiness in shopping, interior and exterior decorating, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Her bond with her sons was special and unwavering, and her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds. She delighted in taking them to amusement parks, children’s museums, and special outings, always going above and beyond to make holidays and celebrations memorable. Gayle was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, caring sister, aunt, and loyal friend. She was deeply loved, greatly respected, and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 45 years, Anthony “Tony” Berotte; her sons, Naresh (Kaila) of Austin and Julius (Destinee) of Dallas; and her beloved grandchildren, Skielah, Iliah, Layla, and Ashur. She is also survived by her sisters, Velma Hines-Dorsey, Bobbie Marrero, Larcita Somerville, Wonda Somerville, and Zelda Hart; her brothers, Michael Somerville, Stanley Somerville, and Kelly Somerville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gayle was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose Monge and Dorothy Somerville.

Her legacy of faith, love, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
