Glenn Earl Matthews was born on October 11, 1951 and raised in Houston, TX to Leonard Earl “Dick” and Mary O’dell Matthews “Sis”. He worked for many years at Houston Lighting and Power before moving to East Texas. There he worked for Hayward Paint Co. before retiring.
He enjoyed deer hunting. He loved guns, and for several years Glenn taught CHL and advanced shooting classes. He loved playing the guitar and was quite good at it.
Glenn was a Master Mason for 45 years. A member of Pine Hill Masonic Lodge #95 Pine Hill, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Mary, his sister Joyce Stubblefield, brother in law Larry Stubblefield, and brother in law Barry Byford.
He leaves behind wife Brenda. Children Kristi Martin and spouse Billy, son Craig Matthews, and step daughter Jasmine Garcia. Granddaughter Kaylee Martin. Brother in law Brad Byford and spouse Sharon. Sister in law Dianne Byford. Niece Marva Shelton and spouse Rick. Nephews Larry Stubblefield and Steve Stubblefield and spouse Dawn. Numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. And numerous cousins, other family members, and a host of friends.
His family would like to give thanks to the nurses and doctors on 6th South and ICU at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest in Waco, TX as well as the BS&W clinic for taking such good care of Glenn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Masonic Lodge #95 in Pine Hill, TX or College Ave Baptist Church of McGregor, TX in Glenn’s name.
