Gregory Alan Raines, a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished brother, and dear friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Moody, Texas, on June 1, 2026. Born on February 12, 1957, in Waco, Texas, Gregory’s life was a testament to dedication, faith, and a genuine spirit of kindness that touched all who knew him.

Gregory’s journey was marked by a rich and diverse career that spanned numerous occupations, including construction, HVAC, electrical work, and engineering. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and knowledge, which were rooted in his education at Richfield High School and further technical training at TSTI, specializing in electronic instrumentation. His hands-on skills and problem-solving abilities were evident not only in his professional endeavors but also in his personal hobbies. Gregory had a passion for tinkering with old radios, clocks, and flashlights, salvaging and restoring them from the scrap piles, demonstrating a patient and meticulous nature.

A man of deep faith, Gregory embraced the Lord, giving his life to Christ in 1980. His love for the Lord was a guiding force throughout his life, and he was known for his warm, engaging personality. He loved to talk and never met a stranger, always greeting others with a genuine smile and a welcoming heart. His affection for simple pleasures, such as chocolate, was well-known among family and friends, reflecting the warmth and sweetness he brought into their lives.

Gregory Alan Raines is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children, Andrew Raines and his wife Amy, and Candice Raines; and his siblings, Becky Cabrera and her husband Rick, Glen Raines and his wife Raylene, Norman Raines and his wife Kay, and Blake Raines and his wife Susie. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Ima Jean Raines.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Gregory’s memory on June 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Family Worship Center, located at 1920 N 25th St, Waco, Texas, 76707. All who knew Gregory and were touched by his life are invited to join in remembering a man who truly embodied kindness, faith, and the spirit of generosity.

Gregory’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew him, but through his legacy of love, faith, and the many lives he impacted, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered as a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and gave generously.
