Harrold Thomas "Tom" Kaylor

Tom Kaylor passed away August 17, 2024, at the age of 91, at home.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2 p.m., August 24, 2024, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Brother Roy Marshall officiating.

Tom was born May 2, 1933, in Westmoreland County, Greensburg, PA to Nellie May Harrold and Leslie Wilbur Kaylor.

Tom served his country as Aviation Radar Tech in the United States Navy from 1952 – 1956. After, he worked part-time at various jobs while employed full-time at Walworth Co. in Greensburg, PA. During this time, he was promoted many times which led to his position as VP of Operations when Walworth Co. relocated to Waco, Texas. From 1983 – 1996, he was employed by Mercury Tool as Plant Manager which he enjoyed as he gained treasured relationships. After he retired, he worked with his son at Kaylor Lawn & Landscaping and then with Carroll Fitzgerald at Fitzgerald’s.

Tom served Christ in church ministry and caring for his family and friends. In Greensburg, PA, he served as deacon at the Church of the Open Door and continued his ministry as deacon at Hewitt First Baptist Church. He and our mother treasured their time and many relationships at Hewitt First Baptist.

Our dad had a servant’s heart. He loved and served our mother well for 62 years until the time of her passing. He treasured, poured love and time into his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and considered all the spouses as such. He sacrificially loved and cared for his in-laws and sister until their passing.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Wilbur Kaylor and Nellie May Kaylor; his brothers, Paul Kaylor, Richard Kaylor, and James Kaylor; sisters, Virginia Kaylor and Mary Kaylor; and his wife and our mother, Evalyn Kaylor.

He is survived by his brother John (Linda) Kaylor of Ohio; his children, Judy (Chuck) Sprung of Hewitt, Texas, Vicki (Chris) Noel of Hewitt, Texas, Susan (Mitch) Tyra of Burnet, Texas, Tom (Niki) Kaylor of McGregor, Texas; his grandchildren, Steve (Jennifer) Sprung, Jennifer (Amado) Benitez, Stacy Whitney, Thomas (Celeste) Kaylor, Mark (Brittney) Noel, Chelsea (Russell) Irby, Wesley Kaylor, Samuel (Rachel) Tyra; and his 15 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the Baylor Scott & White (Waco) hospice nurses who cared for our dad and cared for us during the last weeks. A special thank you to Dr. Steve Raley!

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent in his name to the children’s ministry of Hewitt First Baptist Church. “Jesus loves the little children.”
