Howard's education began in Axtell, Texas, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with service and dedication. Following his school years, he joined the U.S. Army, where he honorably served for three years, including a year in the Korean War. This experience shaped Howard into a man of quiet strength and resilience.

For thirty-three years, Howard served as a fireman in the Waco Fire Department, demonstrating his commitment to the safety and welfare of his community. His colleagues and those whose lives he touched will remember him for his hardworking nature and his compassionate spirit.

In addition to his career, Howard had a passion for driving, working for Central Freight during his off time, which allowed him to explore the open roads he so loved.
