On September 9, 2026, James Clarence Joiner completed his earthly journey, passing peacefully at home with his family close by. Born April 2, 1935, in Wadsworth, Ohio, Then he later moved to Alabama. Jim grew up with the values of hard work, humility, and devotion—qualities he carried throughout his life.

He pursued higher education at the University of Alabama, earning a B. S. In commerce and business administration. He then served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1957 to 1959.

On June 22, 1963, Jim married Barbara Kay McKinzie in Tyler, Texas. Together they built a life rich in love, laughter, and resilience—a 63‑year marriage that stood as a quiet example of commitment.

After marrying Kay they moved back to Tuscaloosa to pursue another 2 years of engineering school at the University of Alabama.

Jim spent three decades at Texas Instruments, giving them the opportunity to see the world and live in Brazil, France, England, Curacao, Lubbock, and Dallas. Followed by twenty years at the University of Texas at Dallas, where he was known for his reliability, kindness, and steady presence. He retired in 2018, finally allowing himself the rest he had earned.

He now reunites with those who went before him: his mother, Bessie Ruth (Hastings) Joiner; his father, Thomas Newll Joiner; his sister, Gloria Lindsey; his daughter, Pamela Musgrove; and his granddaughter, Terri Joiner.

Those who remain to carry his memory forward include his wife, Barbara Kay McKinzie; his sister, Marilyn Sawyer; his children—Roger, Edward, Cassie, and Roxy; his grandchildren—Leslie, Thomas, James Lee, and Dorian; and a wide circle of extended family.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 1:00pm, September 19, 2026, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Waco, Texas.

Jim leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, unwavering love, and a life lived with purpose. His memory will continue to guide those who loved him.
