James Howard Pitts

James Howard "Killer" Pitts of Lorena, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

He was born in Dawson, Texas on March 12, 1936. He graduated from Dawson High School and excelled in football, track and baseball.  He was an avid golfer and lifelong Baylor Bear football fan.

James retired from LeHigh cement company where he was a supervisor for more than thirty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Iona Pitts and a sister, Beverly Pitts.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 66 years, and his three children, James "Jay" Pitts of Missoula, Montana, Lisa Pitts of Moffat, Texas, and Stacy Head and husband Scott of Lafayette, Louisiana; grandchildren, Marley Adair, Slade Adair, Felicia Benitez, Ashley Pitts, Hannah Pitts, Abby Pitts, Jason Head, Kristen Head, Justin Head; six great grandchildren; and niece, Kim Rocha.
