James Edward Taylor

Hewitt, Texas

James Edward Taylor, 88 of Hewitt, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 30th, 2022.  Funeral Services will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 2nd at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Rev. David Cozart officiating.  Interment will follow at Lorena Cemetery with Masonic honors. A Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, April 1, 2022 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

James was born April 26, 1933 in Comanche, Texas.  He graduated from University High School.

He was working at Bird Kultgen Ford when he met the love of his life, Mary Louise Lynch, the couple married in 1953 and had three daughters.

He built the Midway Automotive and Midway Auto Supply in 1956.  He loved racing motorcycles, stock and modified cars; fishing at Lake Mexia, Port o Connor; driving his tractor and tow truck, gardening; his dogs, cows and the rock farm’s cats and even the fishes in the stock tank. He was a member of the Lorena Masonic Lodge #594 and a Shriner.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Laron Turner and Henry Taylor; wife, Mary Taylor; daughters, Mary Ann Wade and Marilyn Guyton; son in law, Thomas L. Guyton; sister, Barbara Ford.

He is survived by daughter, Carolyn Davy and husband Joey; brother in law, Roland Ford; son in law, Norman Wade; grandchildren, James Guyton, Tommy Guyton, Joe Davy, Blaine Boehler, Missy Jordan and husband Ethan; 6 great grand children; 2 great great grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
