James "Jim" Tolbert Markum

James "Jim" Markum passed away in his home on March 22, 2023. A graveside service will be 10 am, Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Waco Memorial Park.

He was born to Annie Lou and Bernice Markum on March 14, 1943 in Waco, Texas. Jim served in the Army and lived briefly in California where he met Carolyn Mooney. The two were married and moved to Texas. Jim served the City of Waco as a police officer for 35 years. Upon retirement Jim helped his wife raise and show miniature horses. He enjoyed watching old westerns and was a John Wayne fan. After a long battle with prostate cancer, Jim peacefully joined the Lord with his wife of 57 years by his side.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; his sister, Janie and husband Duncan McDowell; daughter Niki and husband Tom Kaylor; son James Markum Jr. and wife Nancy; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
