Jerry Thomas Millar III, passed away on July 15, 2026. A celebration of his life will take place at 11:00am, Friday, July 31, 2026, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on November 30, 1945, in Pasadena, Texas, to Dr. Jerry Thomas Millar, DVM and Juanita Dickerson Millar, who preceded him in death. In his childhood, Jerry spent countless hours hunting and fishing at the League Ranch in McLennan County, where his father was ranch manager for many years. Those early experiences instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and the rich heritage of Texas.

Jerry attended Connally High School before continuing his education and graduating from Texas A&M University, where he formed many lifelong friendships. During his youth, he was recognized as FFA Star Farmer, earning the honor through hard work with success in the Houston Rodeo Calf Scramble. He raised his Holstein to become a Grand Champion at the Heart O’ Texas Fair.

Blessed with an entrepreneurial spirit, Jerry was a successful business owner that led to full time employment with Lincoln Properties in Dallas, Texas. After retirement, he returned home to the family property in Chalk Bluff where he found great satisfaction in the slower pace of country life.

Retirement suited Jerry well. He had a gift for recognizing the value and story behind things others might overlook and enjoyed collecting and saving all things unique. He was happiest outdoors and possessed an impressive knowledge of Texas history, local history, family history and firearms. He never tired of sharing stories with others about the people, places and things he loved. Jerry was also involved with the Sons of the Republic of Texas and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, reflecting his deep interest in history even more.

He is survived by his brother, Patrick Dickerson Millar and wife, Dr. Jana Millar, his sisters, Mary Ann Felton and husband, Judge Scott Felton, and Margaret Millar Erwin all of Waco; along with his beloved nieces and nephews who referred to him as a fun uncle, and many extended family members and dear friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to his caregiver Eve Cruz for her kindness and care shown to Jerry.

Jerry will be remembered for his independent spirit, sharp mind, love of history, generous storytelling, and deep appreciation for the land and traditions that shaped his life. His legacy lives on in through his family and the memories he created with all who knew him.
