Jimmie Jo Grogan

Jimmie Jo Beall Grogan, 91, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, in Waco, Texas. Born on February 17, 1935, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Luther Stewart Beall and Virginia Lavender Beall, Jimmie Jo lived a life marked by faith, music, generosity, and deep love for her family and community.

From an early age, Jimmie Jo displayed extraordinary musical talent. She began playing the piano at just three years old, and by age four she had been recognized as having perfect pitch. Music became both her passion and her lifelong calling. At twelve, she began serving as pianist for her Sunday school and church, beginning a lifetime of faithful musical ministry. Throughout the years, she joyfully accompanied choirs and soloists and taught piano lessons to generations of students, sharing her remarkable gifts with countless others.

Jimmie Jo pursued her education with determination and excellence. She began her studies at Oklahoma Baptist University and later earned her degree in music from East Texas Baptist College. Her education strengthened not only her musical abilities but also her lifelong commitment to serving others.

Faith was the cornerstone of Jimmie Jo's life. She grew up attending Beech Street Baptist Church in Texarkana and remained deeply involved in church communities wherever she lived. For decades, she served as pianist at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Dallas, where she was an active member of Christian Women's Fellowship. She also shared her creativity by writing (and performing) plays, songs, and musicals for the church, blessing her congregation through both her music and her faith.

Jimmie Jo was known for her generous heart, gentle spirit, and genuine love for people. She found great joy in helping others and building lasting friendships. After the passing of her beloved husband, George Grogan, in 2019, she moved to Waco, where she embraced a new community of friends while enjoying precious time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Sally Gordon and Luther Stewart Beall Jr.; and her husbands, Bob Wright and George Grogan.

She is survived by her loving children: Bob Wright (Brenda), Sharon Stern (Charlie), Steve Wright (Donna), Gary Grogan (Kendre), David Grogan (Kimberly), and Julie Carter (John). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Robby Wright (Kim), Ashley Mann (Ryan), Sarah Ochel (Jordan), Bonnie Wright, Charles Shaw, Kat Grogan (Nova), Emily Cox (Andrew), Natalie Wright, Aaron Grogan (Macy), Sabrina Carter, Maddie Carter, Rachel Parven (Nathan), Jesse Wright (Amanda), Abby Wright, Taylor Sonne (Francesca), Garrison Grogan, Paige Wright, Tori Carter, Kenzie Grogan, Claire Sonne, and Noah Wright, along with nine beloved great-grandchildren.

Jimmie Jo's legacy is one of unwavering faith, steadfast devotion to her family, and a lifelong love of music that enriched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered not only for her extraordinary musical gifts but also for her kindness, generosity, and servant's heart.

A memorial service celebrating Jimmie Jo's life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Dallas, Texas.
