Jimmy Wayne Cole

December 21, 1953 – September 25, 2026

Jimmy Wayne Cole, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly in Lorena, Texas, on September 25, 2026, at the age of 72.

Jimmy was born in Enid, Oklahoma, at Vance Air Force Base on December 21, 1953, to Dorothy and Wayne Cole. He grew up as a military child, moving to various locations, but always considered Midwest City home. In 1971, he proudly joined the United States Army, serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1978 as a Staff Sergeant. He later continued his college education at Cameron University, graduating in 1981 with an associate degree and then in 1983 with his bachelor’s degree, both in Electronics Technology. He also served on the Electronics Advisory Board in 1984.

Jimmy built a long and accomplished career in the aerospace industry, working with Hughes Aircraft, Raytheon, Chrysler, L-3 Communications, CACI, and the U.S. Government. Throughout his career, he served in a variety of roles, including instructor and technical writer. He was known for his dedication, knowledge, and willingness to help others.

Outside of work, Jimmy found joy in the things he loved most. He enjoyed coaching Little League football in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and in Dallas and Waco, Texas. He also coached softball while stationed in Germany and later in Lorena, Texas. He was always cheering passionately for the University of Oklahoma, especially the OU football and softball teams, and enjoyed spending time working on home projects, repairing cars, and woodworking. He could always find something to fix, build, or improve. Later in life, he also became an ordained minister, which brought him great happiness.

Jimmy had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of bringing laughter to those around him. More than anything, he loved his children and grandchildren and took immense pride in his family. His love, guidance, humor, and devotion created countless memories that will be cherished for generations.

Jimmy is survived by his children, Jessica McDonald and her husband, James McDonald, of Lorena, Texas, and Nicole Moore and her husband, Jordan Moore, of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandchildren, Payce McDonald, Madeline Moore, and Kinley Moore; his brother, Greg Cole and wife, Laurie, of Blair, Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Dorothy Cole, and his brother, Tracy Cole.

Jimmy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his humor, loving nature, dedication to his family, and the many memories he created with those he loved. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and all those whose lives he touched.
