John David Lybrand passed away on June 2nd 2025, in Waco, Texas. He was born on August 6, 1949 in Abilene, Texas, to Elsa and Fred Lybrand.
John graduated from Darien High School in Darien, Connecticut. He went on to attend Baylor University before earning his degree from Hardin Simmons University. He built a distinguished career in the banking industry, serving in various leadership roles including Vice President of First National Bank of Texas and President of Bank of Odessa.
John found joy in teaching Sunday School at Casa View Baptist Church, Southwestern Baptist Church, and helped start an English speaking Hispanic church in Garland, Texas. He was an avid Texas Rangers fan and cherished his time spent with his pet Boston Terriers.
He was married to Delinda Dent and considered his greatest accomplishment to be raising their two daughters, Alisha Wray and Katibeth Sharp. John also leaves behind his beloved granddaughters, Lyra and Ella Wray; his sons-in-law, Justin Wray and Andrew Sharp; his sister Judy Lybrand Kuhn; and brother, Fred Ewing Lybrand III, and numerous nephews and nieces.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A memorial gathering will be held Date & Time at Waxahachie Hillcrest Cemetery along with a family graveside service.
