John Lee Mondragon, Sr.

November 14, 1950 — January 4, 2022

Lorena, Texas

John Lee Mondragon, Sr., 71, of Lorena, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family.  A Celebration of his life will be 2-4pm, Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

John was born November 14, 1950 to Gloria and Joe Henry Mondragon in Corpus Christi, Texas.  He grew up mostly in Corpus Christi, however the family made several moves.  He was a 1969 graduate of University High School.  Soon after graduation, he began his training and lifelong career in Electrical Contracting.  He had the privilege to have owned his own business, Woodway Electric.

John was a family man, loving his time with his family.  He was a hard worker, but also enjoyed a good time, and many activities in the outdoors.  He was a “Character” and will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren who adored him.

John is preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, and the love of his life and greatest dancing partner, Susan.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, John Mondragon, Jr, Kristen Gilbert and husband Andrew; grandchildren, Shyann and Jaylynn Mondragon, Remy and Drake Gilbert; and his siblings.

John was a people person and always knew how to make people laugh and smile. He did this by often singing a song off tune, making a silly face, or even going along with a plan he knew nothing about. His infectious smile and chuckle always radiated throughout whatever he was doing.
