Obituary

Listen to Obituary

John Charles Polston, affectionately known to many as "John Boy" and endearingly nicknamed "Uncle Cutie Pie" by his nieces, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on May 14, 2026, at his home in Moody, Texas. Born on December 18, 1964, in Clifton, Texas, John was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose happy-go-lucky spirit, sharp sense of humor, and warm heart touched all who knew him.

John was a graduate of Moody High School and deepened his craft by undertaking machinist training at TSTI. His dedication and hard work defined much of his professional life, spanning an impressive 39 years of committed service at Howmet, formerly known as Huck Manufacturing. Throughout his career, John carried himself with the same joy and kindness that he brought to his personal life.

A man of varied interests and passions, John found joy in playing the guitar and indulged in a love for John Wayne films, classic television shows, and YouTube videos. He delighted in the lighthearted challenge of reruns of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader," and he also nurtured unique hobbies such as beekeeping and playing Everquest. These interests not only offered him personal relaxation but became points of connection with those around him.

John's personality was marked by a genuine sweetness and a great knack for making others smile. A joker at heart, his playful spirit was a constant source of happiness within his family and community.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Donna; their son, Michael Shawn; his sisters Linda Pierce and her husband Keith, and Donna Malcik and her husband Norman; his brothers Andrew (Pete) Polston and J.T. Hargrove and wife Sheila; his brother-in-law Ernie Bartels; and a loving circle of nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by these cherished family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Zuma Jo Burgess, and her husband Wilton; his father, Joseph Polston; and his sister, Jackie Bartels.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join in honoring John’s life during visitation on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Crematorium, located at 8220 Woodway Dr, Woodway, Texas 76712. Funeral services will follow the next day, on Monday, May 18, 2026, starting at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial will take place subsequently at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby, Texas, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

John Charles Polston’s life was one marked by affection, dedication, and an infectious joy that will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory endures as a beacon of love, laughter, and kindness. May he rest in peace.
