Josephine Rios, a beloved homemaker and devoted family matriarch, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2025, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on April 14, 1945, in Waco, Josephine dedicated her life to her family, creating a nurturing environment that was a testament to her boundless love and compassion.
A graduate of Waco High when it was located downtown, Josephine carried a spark of community spirit throughout her life. Her role as a PTA member exemplified her commitment to enhancing the lives of children around her. She also played a significant part in initiatives such as drug enforcement and Crime Stoppers, demonstrating her dedication to making her community a safer place.
Josephine was not only an incredible mother but also the perfect partner for her husband, Hildo. Her unwavering support was invaluable to him in his various businesses, and she was known to whip up the best burgers anyone could hope for. Her nurturing personality and generous heart influenced all who were fortunate to know her.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Hildo, and their cherished children: Rosie Olsen, Cynthia Molano, and Joe Raymond Rios and wife, Atissa. Josephine was also a devoted grandmother to Ashley Martin and her husband Benjamin, Tessa Rios, Jonathan Rios, Kristen Molano, Nathan Rios, Miranda Rios, and Noah Kyle. Alongside her immediate family, she is survived by her siblings: Frances Fischer, Gloria Valdez, Minnie Simcik, Joe Rodriguez, Jr., and Velma Barnes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who will forever hold her memory dear in their hearts.
Josephine is predeceased by her granddaughter Amber Olsen, and her parents, Joe, Sr. and Elvira Rodriguez.
The family will be holding a visitation on November 9, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Crematorium in Woodway, Texas. A funeral service will follow on November 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with burial taking place at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco at 2:30 PM.
The family extends special thanks to Hillcrest Hospital for the compassionate care and love Josephine received during her final days. Her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched, and her legacy of love and devotion will forever shine brightly in the hearts of her family.
