Joyce Henning Wiethorn, age 93 of Woodway, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Funeral services will be Monday, May 20th, at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor, Texas. A visitation will be on Sunday, May 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Woodway, Texas.
Joyce was born February 14, 1931, to parents Otto and Adela Hennig. She met Gus Wiethorn in Crawford, TX and they were married in 1948. They moved all over the country in their young lives for Gus’ job as financial officer with the V.A. During this time they had a daughter, Cindy.
Joyce was employed by JC Penny as a department manager, and she also held her beautician’s license. They later settled in central Texas where Joyce loved to keep busy beautifying her home and community. She loved painting landscapes and was an excellent seamstress, enjoying making clothes for her family and friends. She loved gardening and was a member of the McGregor Garden Club. She was also a member of the Ruth Circle at Zion Lutheran Church.
She was the sweetest hostess; you wouldn’t be able to visit her home without her making sure you were at least asked if you needed a refreshment. Joyce was devoted to her faith and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gus, her parents, her seven siblings, five brothers—Ray, Leo, Wesley, Buddy and Tommy and two sisters—Tenie Phillips and Jean Luedeker, and grandson–in–law Jarrod Symank.
Survivors include her daughter Cindy King; Sister, Marjorie Deer; granddaughter Lyndsey Symank and her children Case and Jami and grandson Brady King and his wife Dana and their children Ryan and Jaci.
We thank God for her life and love.
Memorials may be made in care of Zion Lutheran Church, West Sixth Street, McGregor, Texas 76657 or Alzheimer Association, 710 North 64th Street, Waco, Tx 76710.
