Kathleen Lindsey

Kathleen Mayr Lindsey—beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend—passed away peacefully in Richardson, Texas on July 15, 2025. She was 74 years old.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at McGregor Baptist Church on August 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

Kathleen was born in Waco, Texas, on January 5, 1951, to Charles and Burnell Mayr. She was the second of three children. The family made their home in Waco, where Kathleen graduated from Waco High School in 1970. She met her future husband, Jearld Lindsey of McGregor, while in high school. The two were married on August 14, 1970, and enjoyed 48 years of marriage together, raising two children in McGregor.

Kathleen found joy in sewing, solving Sudoku puzzles, listening to the Beatles and Celtic Thunder, and baking desserts—her famous Chocolate Sheet Cake was always a crowd favorite. Her greatest joy came when she became a grandmother to twin boys. A caregiver at heart, Kathleen spent many years working in local nursing homes and selflessly caring for family members and friends in times of need.

She is survived by her children, Sharon and Michael (Kristy); grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob; and siblings, Patricia (Dave) Barnett and David (Christi) Mayr. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and their children; numerous cousins; cherished friends she considered family; and her “adopted kids” who lovingly called her “Mama Kathy.”

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her parents-in-law, Henry and Billie Lindsey.
