Kathyrn “Kat” Lynn Oliver, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, at UT Southwestern, after a two-year faith-filled battle with cancer. A memorial visitation in honor of Kathy will take place Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
Born on November 6, 1958, in Waco, Texas, Kathy’s radiant spirit and unwavering faith made a profound impact on all who knew her. She grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where she was a proud graduate of Pascal High School. Her education continued at Dallas Baptist University where she earned her bachelor degree in Business & Finance.
Kathy dedicated 42 years of her life to AT&T, where she drove across Dallas in her role, always mindful to pray for safe travel each time she got behind the wheel. Her commitment to her work was evident, and she built lasting relationships. She was one to light up rooms with her bubbly personality and infectious smile.
She was a faithful servant of the Lord, embodying kindness and compassion, and never once met a stranger. Her resilience shone brightly, especially during her courageous fight against cancer, revealing her strength.
Kat fostered a love for the outdoors and found peace and joy in hiking. It was not uncommon for her to capture the beauty of sunsets; she loved sharing photos of nature with her loved ones. Each image reflected her appreciation for life's simple yet profound moments. It was also not uncommon for Kathy to stop and rescue pets that seemed to be lost; animals were important to her.
Kat is survived by her loving mother, Mary Oliver, and her brother, James Kevin Oliver. She also leaves behind countless cousins and wonderful friends who cherished her. She was preceded in passing by her beloved father, James "Jim" Oliver, whose memory she carried in her heart.
Her legacy of love and light will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched during her time on this earth. Kat’s spirit will continue to inspire and uplift, reminding us all to meet life with faith, joy, and a sense of adventure.
The family would like to extend a big thank you to all of those who cared for Kathy on the 11th Floor at UT Southwestern.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA or a charity of your choosing.
